As the 2011 NFL draft came to a close, I was not prepared for the feeling of sadness I felt for my then favorite team the Minnesota Vikings. Not just because I felt they had let a few things slip through the cracks on draft night, but rather, that I had been disappointed long enough by the same team. It was shortly after the draft, that I had reached out to the blogging community and asked for some help. I was in search of a new team.
You may have noticed that the poll question that had adorned the right side of the page for last 130 days is now gone. The poll question was, “Which NFL team should Sanders become a Superfan of?” So with much excitement, the verdict is in. Out of the 52 votes; 14 went to the Denver Broncos, there were 5 votes to remain a loyalist to the Minnesota Vikings, and 5 votes for the Philadelphia Eagles. The rest of the votes were spread thin over the rest of the league. The fans have spoken.
So as the 2011 NFL season kicked off last night, I am proud to say, “Go Broncos!”
Does anyone know where I can get an Eric Decker jersey?
How bout them"Cowboys"
ReplyDeleteGlad you picked the right team!!! Go Broncos!!
ReplyDeleteCould I interest you in a ratty old Bill Belichik hoody? You would be stylin' out there.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess it's better than being a dolphins fan.
ReplyDeleteI'm a dolphin fan and let me say it sucks.
It will suck plenty being a bronco fan this year, but you made the right choice. At least you didn't pick the Utah Marmalades or whoever those teams are in Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...never mind, Georgia doesn't have a football team.
ReplyDeleteMan...those Eagles votes didn't add up. No hate for the Broncos, so good stuff.
ReplyDeleteGo Eagles!! Then I guess I will have to say go Bronco's for all you fella's out there hanging out with the Cutthroats :) I thought about creating 15 different Google accounts so I could beef up the Eagles vote ;) So long as the Packers and Cowboys some how suck it up, I will be happy. Best of luck to you and the Stallions... Tight Lines.
ReplyDeleteI have always really liked your blog for your writing talent and way of telling the story. But, now, I really like your blog! Great choice, been a Bronco fan for almost (40) years through hell and high water. Looking forward to the season and, of course, Monday Night Football. Bronco and da' Raiders!
ReplyDeletePretty convenient for someone who lives just outside of the mile-high city.
ReplyDeleteWhile, I would like everyone to be an Iggles fan, I think going blue and orange was the correct thing to do. It makes the most sense regionally. I have no hard feelings.
ReplyDeletewhen's the hockey poll?
ReplyDeleteSanders
ReplyDeleteSad to know there was not enough votes to pull you over to the Colts or Giants--but the polls have spoken and the Broncos should work for you. Why do I choose the Colts and Giants--aside from having two of the best QB in the league---my sister-in-law graduated with Archie Manning form Drew High School in Mississippi. I saw all of Archie Manning's games played at Ole Miss and in Jackson Miss when he was playing there. My wife and I went to all of Eli's games at Ole Miss when he was playing there, so I feel a connection for the Mannings and of course the love of football itself. I really hated to hear yesterday that Peyton may miss the entire season this year and that his career may be over. It won't be the same watching the Colts this season without Peyton. Good luck with the Broncos this season.
Brk Trt- The Cowboys would have been a good choice...too bad "Americas Team" didn't get more votes...
ReplyDeleteCutthroat- The Broncos chose me...Go Broncos!
ReplyDeleteHerringbone- Yes! I would love the ratty Bill Belichik sweatshirt...I've always wanted a sweatshirt with 3/4 length sleeves...ha!
ReplyDeleteGeorge- I think you're right...ha! "Fins to the left...fins to the right, you're the only bait in town!"
ReplyDeleteHoward- I'm ready for the beating as a Bronco fan...I'm used to it from the days in MN...ha!
ReplyDeleteT!- E A G L E S....EAGLES! Not enough votes unfortunately....oh well, Broncs won't be so bad :-)
ReplyDeleteTrout- I hedged my bet by not allowing the Packers to be on the list...I couldn't do it :-) Glad you didn't have to set up all of those accounts...ha!
ReplyDeleteMel- Thanks! Monday is going to be a good day...can't wait to see my new team shine!
ReplyDeleteMike- I know right...ha! This poll was left up to the fans...and the fans have spoken...Go Broncos!
ReplyDelete...would have been nice to be wearing a DeAngelo Williams jersey though :-)
Ivan- I was hoping for a tighter race between some teams...oh well, it will be good to be a Bronco fan living in CO...
ReplyDeleteTravis- I know...I'm thinking of forgoing a poll and remain a Blackhawks fan...and I might start to cheer for the Jets, would like to see them do well.
ReplyDeleteI'm open for suggestions though...ha!
Bill- I can see why you are such a fan of both teams. It's nice to have that connection to players, it makes watching that much more enjoyable. It's a bummer about Peyton this year, but hopefully he can come back stronger next year. Go Eli!
ReplyDeleteI hope the Broncos can muster the strength to beat the Browns this year.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere....Fran Tarkenton is shedding a tear.
ReplyDeleteBCFN- I just hope the Broncos win a game this year...wait? what? they won last week...who knew?
ReplyDeleteRider- I just hope he isn't a blog reader...ha!
